Jim Redgate is well known for his lattice guitars which are played by famous players such as Ana Vidovic. But Jim Redgate makes as well doubletop guitars. The legend says that Jim Redgate was so much interested by the doubletop guitar sound that he purchased a guitar from Mattias Dammann and carefully study the DT concept.
As a result, his doubletop guitars are one of a kind, and quite different from the German-style DT. Whereas the German DT tends to be very light and very dark, Jim’s doubletop are closer in her tone to a lattice guitar with a greater balance between clarity and darkness. The tone is wonderful with a lot of overtones. The spruce top used for this guitar is the perfect choice to counter-balance the darkness of the DT.
Last but not least the South American rosewood used for this guitar is awesome.
This guitar offers a great string separation, with very thick notes.
